Breaking: Kim Kardashian Releases Statement on Divorce

Fresh off the news that she had filed for divorce from NBA star Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage, Kim Kardashian has just released an official statement on the issue:

"I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," she told E!, which airs her various shows and hosted her 4-hour wedding special.

"I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best," said Kardashian.

News of Kardashian's divorce after such a short marriage just made it's way out to the media this morning, and has produced an awful lot of "I'm not surprised" responses over on the Yidio Facebook page.

Ryan Seacrest, whose production company runs all of the Kardashian-related reality TV properties, broke the news on the rapid-fire divorce earlier this morning via Twitter:

"Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins"

TMZ has since reported that she has in fact filed the papers, citing the vague "irreconcilable differences."
