Kings of Leon Frontman Fires Back, Tells 'Glee' Creator Murphy to 'Buy a New Bra and Zip His Lip'

Yesterday we reported about “Glee” co-creator Ryan Murphy’s "f$%k you" rant against the Kings of Leon.

The band’s frontman Caleb Followill immediately released an official statement explaining that their decision to decline Murphy’s request to perform their song was not a direct affront to “Glee” and that they didn’t understand why Murphy is angry.

He apparently neglected to tell his bandmates to play it cool as well.

Enraged by Murphy’s statement, the band's drummer (and Caleb's brother)  Nathan Followill mockingly tweeted, "Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating 7 yr olds how to say f%^k."

Everyone knows that the “Glee” co-creator is gay, and his show frequently tackles problems concerning students who are homosexuals. Lately Murphy approved the guest appearance of Anne Hathaway in the show as Kurt Hummel’s (Chris Colfer) lesbian aunt who will help him cope with his sexuality.

After a swift backlash from fans and the press alike, Followill was quick in offering his apology to the public and tweeted, “I'm sorry 4 anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or misogynistic. I'm so not that kind of person. I really do apologize."

Murphy was ready with a quick reponse that was equal parts catty, smart and...well...priceless.

He told Perez Hilton:

"Just read Nathan Followill's Tweet…in which he implied I should ‘get a manicure and buy a bra.’ Wow. That's a homophobe badly in need of some education. I'm all for manicures, don't wear a bra. Would guess most gay dudes don't. But it's telling that Nathan can reduce a group of people to a mean-spirited cliché, in a time where young gay men are killing themselves all over the country because of hatred like this."

"That said, I would love to sit down with Nathan or any member of Kings and Leon, and tell them how on Glee we actually love their music, and support their artistry…but cannot condone or even laugh at their clear disdain of gay people. "

Can't we all just get along?
