Laurence Fishburne Leaving 'CSI'

Laurence Fishburne Leaving 'CSI' After two and a half seasons of cracking cases (with science!), Emmy winner Laurence Fishburne is leaving "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

Fishburne's contract was up for renewal this year, but the actor decided not to renew it. For the past couple of seasons, Fishburne has been playing the leading role of Dr. Raymond Langston on the CBS show, which was once hailed as the biggest show on television.

Over the past few years, "CSI" has seen its ratings drop somewhat, culminating in last month's season finale, which was the lowest-rated in the show's history. Of course, this is still "CSI," so the lowest-rated finale for the show is still 11.4 million total viewers. The 2.4 rating in the demo was a bit low, but you can bet that "CSI" isn't going anywhere.

The show is, however, going to a new night and time: at last month's upfront presentation, CBS announced that "CSI" would transfer to Wednesday nights while J.J. Abrahms' new show "Person of Interest" took over the former "CSI" Thursday night time slot.

Fishburne, who rose to fame thanks to his role as Morpheus in "The Matrix" series, still has a solid film career going, and recently wrapped on the new film "Contagion." His reason for leaving "CSI" has not yet been announced.
