Bearded Weirdo Zach Galifianakis Developing Comedy Pilot for HBO
by Andy NeuenschwanderIn case anyone had any doubts, Zach Galifinaikis' monologue on "Saturday Night Live" proved once and for all that he is one of the funniest people alive. And when you're HBO and you have one of the funniest people alive appearing on one of your shows, you give him his own pilot.
After appearing in a recurring supporting role in HBO's "Bored to Death," Zach Galifianakis has landed a first-look deal with the network. The first item of business on Galifianakis' plate? Develop a comedy pilot with his friend Brody Stevens.
Galifianakis has known Stevens, a fellow stand-up comedian, for ten years, and the two have produced some content for the web before. Now, the pair will be working together on the HBO pilot.
The show is in the preliminary stages, but is being described as a mockumentary focused on the daily life of a stand-up comedian. Stevens is likely to star, and Galifianakis will appear in more of a supporting role, as he often does.
The pilot is still in production and has not been picked up yet, so there's no guarantee that it will go to air. Let's hope it does, though: Galifianakis and Stevens have a great rapport, and they could produce some really funny stuff. Need proof?
