Yidio Video of the Day: Amazing New Fan Film 'The Batman Complex' Asks 'Was 'The Dark Knight' Just an Insane Dream?'

Was Bruce Wayne as loony as The Joker? Did he even exist? What did he mean when he said "I'm Batman" and what does it all have to do with a spinning top?

Melding "The Dark Knight," "Inception," and "The Machinist," an amazing new fan video makes it look like the latest Batman series is just the delusional dream of a mad Christian Bale.

Entitled "The Batman Complex" from YouTube creator "themanbatman," the trailer-length film does a masterful job of taking disparate stories (though many of them are clearly related due to Christopher Nolan’s influence as a writer and director) and weaving them into something that’s more "what if" than "wtf."

Featuring cameos from Leonardo DiCaprio, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and more, the short fan film playfully pokes at the concept of who Batman really is.

"The gist of the idea revolves around a few fun topics, mainly the whole, ‘What is real?’ train of thought, and also every fan's desire, deep down or upfront, to be Batman at least once in their lives,” said the film's creator.

“And so, I tried to craft a story where we see what happens when someone takes their dream of being Batman a little bit too far.”

It's a little confusing but thoroughly fun stuff. It's entertaining to see how well some of Christopher Nolan's films fit together stylistically and thematically, and mysterious creator "themanbatman" smartly weaves in content from "The Machinist" a near-flawless thriller featuring a scary-skinny Christian Bale that way too few people saw.
