'Sons of Anarchy' Renewed for Season 5!

'Sons of Anarchy' Renewed for Season 5! Despite creator Kurt Sutter's recent tirades, it's been a good couple of months for "Sons of Anarchy." The show has enjoyed ratings so good that it has become the highest-rated show ever on the increasingly popular FX network. It's also currently the most popular show this week on Yidio.

And today, the show has been officially renewed for a fifth season.

The renewal, which comes as the show wrapped production on the remaining episodes of season four, comes as little to no surprise.

After all "Sons of Anarchy" is up about 30% in viewership over last season, and it has become not only the highest-rated FX show, but also the highest-rated scripted drama on basic cable.

“Everyone at FX is very grateful to Kurt Sutter, his many writing, directing and producing collaborators and his masterful cast for making such a compelling and beautifully crafted show,” said FX President John Landgraf.

“It is no small challenge to bring the themes of a great, ancient play like 'Hamlet' into a wholly original television setting and to tell this complex story in a way that is both riveting and accessible to a broad audience. The fans know how beautifully SOA meets this challenge, and we thank them for their loyal and passionate viewership," said Landgraf.

The season four premiere brought in about 6.5 million total viewers, an impressive number for a cable drama. Plus, when you factor in multiple telecasts over the week, the show averages about 9 million total viewers with 6 million in the demo. That's enough to make anyone smile... even Kurt Sutter.
