'Seinfeld' Star Julia Louis-Dreyfus Lands HBO Comedy Series 'Veep'

'Seinfeld' Star Julia Louis-Dreyfus Lands HBO Comedy Series 'Veep' Julia Louis-Dreyfus is returning to TV, and she's going to get political while she's at it.

The former "Seinfeld" star has landed a new comedy series with HBO entitled "Veep." In the show, Louis-Dreyfus will play Selina Meyer, a U.S. senator who becomes vice president. It's unclear whether the show will satirize Democrats or Republicans specifically or just the political landscape in general, but hijinks will certainly ensue.

Louis-Dreyfus will be joined by Anna Chlumsky (who recently appeared in "Lights Out" but made her career start as the lead in "My Girl"), Tony Hale (Buster from "Arrested Development"), Reid Scott ("My Boys"), Matt Walsh ("The Hangover") and others.

Dreyfus has had a good deal of success in TV, having won Emmys for both "Seinfeld" and her follow-up "The New Adventures of Old Christine." She also had multi-episode arcs in "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Arrested Development," and recently portrayed Liz Lemon in the live episode of "30 Rock."

British writer and director Armando Ianucci, who wrote the controversial (and quite foul-mouthed) "In the Loop," penned the series along with Simon Blackwell.

Julia's pilot should fit right in to the HBO comedy lineup, which is seeing an influx of female-driven comedy series. Whether or not her new character can dance better than Elaine Benes remains to be seen.
