New 'Boy Meets World' In the Works?

New 'Boy Meets World' In the Works? In a bit of weird news, TVLine is reporting that The Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a continuation of the long-running series, “Boy Meets World.”

WHAT?

According to sources, Disney is trying to convince Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to return to their original roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence.

Cory and Topanga married when the sitcom ended its seven-year run on ABC. The series, “Girl Meets World,” would involve following the life of Cory and Topanga’s pre-teen daughter.

WHAT?

The series, which ran from1993 to 2000, had a huge fan following. Availability of the show on DVD has lead to a resurgence of love for the quirky, warm comedy.

The show starred, aside from Savage and Fishel, William Daniels as the beloved Mr. Feeny, Betsy Randall and William Russ as the parental Matthews, Will Friedle as the cool-but-dumb older brother Eric, and of course Rider Strong as best friend Shawn Hunter.

What 90’s girl didn’t have a Teen Beat poster of Rider Strong over their bed? Amiright?

During the 158-episode run, fans of the series followed the life of Cory Matthews as he navigated school, friends and family, and of course, falling in love with the strange but loveable Topanga. Would a show focused on their daughter appeal to anyone who grew up giddily excited for “TGIF” night, or will the show manage to pull in only a younger generation?

Executive producer Michael Jacobs, who also produced the original show, says that casting is underway for the new series.

Whether we like it or not, apparently.

Will you tune in?
