Jesse Eisenberg Confirmed, Ellen Page Added to New Woody Allen Film

Earlier this week we reported that "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin would be joining Woody Allen's new film, and that Jesse Eisenberg was in talks for a lead role. Well, Eisenberg has been confirmed, and there's even more good news about the cast!

Indie darling Ellen Page has also signed on, filling in the younger female lead. That makes the foursome of leading actors to be Alec Baldwin, Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page and Penelope Cruz, the last of whom announced her involvement last week.

Cruz is no surprise as she recently worked with Allen on the critically-successful "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," a performance that earned her an Oscar. Baldwin also worked with Allen before, but not since the early 1990's.

Eisenberg and Page, however, are new to the Woody Allen oeuvre, but should fit in nicely. Both have a tremendous ability for natural, honest performances, a style that plays well in Woody Allen movies. Diane Keaton did it to perfection in "Annie Hall," and few have been able to match that tone since.

Details about the plot are hush-hush right now, but we do know the movie is being shot in Rome, Italy. Given Allen's track record, here's a guess: Baldwin and Cruz are an older couple, Eisenberg and Page are a younger couple, they're all on vacation in Italy, and they have various relationship problems. I'd put money on that as the premise.
