'More As the Story Develops': Jeff Daniels in Talks for Aaron Sorkin HBO Pilot As we reported back in January, after a brief foray into writing Oscar-winning screenplays, Aaron Sorkin will be returning to his home base: TV shows that are about TV shows. In the past, Sorkin wrote "Sports Night," which took place behind the scenes at a Sportscenter-type show, and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which took place behind the scenes at a "Saturday Night Live" kind of program.

Now, Sorkin is working on a pilot for HBO currently titled "More as the Story Develops," which might be an even more awkward title than the ill-fated "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." The show will take place behind the scenes at a cable news channel (such as CNN, Fox News or MSNBC) and will likely be similar in tone to Sorkin's previous projects: dramatic, but with moments of comedy and plenty of snappy dialogue.

Veteran actor Jeff Daniels, whose career has ranged from the Oscar-nominated "The Purple Rose of Cairo" to the broad comedy hit "Dumb and Dumber," is currently in talks to star in the new show. Daniels could be a great fit, as he has proven his abilities in both dramatic and comedic roles.

The show sounds fascinating, and Sorkin always puts out good material (fans of "The West Wing" can attest to that). With the rise of the 24-hour cable news networks and attacks on their ethics by "The Daily Show" and others, the subject matter should be timely as well.

It's not clear whether the show will center on a liberal, conservative, or non-partisan (if there is such a thing) cable news network, but since Sorkin did research with Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, it will probably be a liberal station.
