Episode 'Community' Season 2, Episode 18 - 'Custody Law and Eastern European Diplomacy' Recap
by Andy Neuenschwander
This week's episode of TV's best comedy (I'm going to keep saying it until their numbers improve) starts off with the world's most awkward baby shower, as Annie throws one for Shirley, her husband, and Chang.
We later find that Shirley wants Chang to sign a release of parental rights, but Chang has different ideas: maybe if he becomes a responsible adult, he'll get to be a father to the kid.
Meanwhile, Britta is getting on Troy and Abed's case about their new friend Luka ("Dollhosue" star Enver Gjokaj), who turns out to be a war criminal from the Balkans.
The storyline doesn't go too far, but Gillian Jacobs is absolutely on fire in this ep: highlights include her lyrics to a Britney Spears song ("Hit me with with your genie's bottle, pour it all over me…") and her scheming ("may…be…we…do"). Plus, Enver has some zingers himself, including an apt description of Troy and Abed: "They make funny with their mouths."
A quick note: don't watch the end of this episode if you haven't seen "Catfish" yet. Britta spoiler alert!
Hey, where was Pierce this week? And Annie? Quiet night.
Troy & Abed tag: the whole gang is sitting around the table on their various electronic devices having quality hang-out time. Poignant!
