Emma Watson on American Boys

The star of huge hits like “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” and, of course, the “Harry Potter” series, adorable Emma Watson shouldn’t have an issue getting a date—and we’re not talking about Ron Weasley.

But poor Watson revealed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that finding romance isn’t always easy for her—especially in her homeland, where apparently the dating scene runs a bit different.

What does the British sweetheart say about English boys?

"English guys are very well put together. They dress really well and they are very well mannered. But they are also very restrained. Usually in the whole courting situation, I‘m used to being first of all, ignored for the first two months of the ritual. And then maybe they'll acknowledge my presence. Then, they'll probably be a little mean to me."

So dating British boys is like dating in middle school, only with better outfits? Rough. But there’s still hope, right?

"Then I arrive in America and I remember a few nights into Brown, this guy just being like, 'I like you. You're great. Let's go on a date. Let's do it.' I'm like, 'I'm sorry, what just happened?' This is like a huge culture shock for me. They're very like open and very straight-forward—but they wear flip-flops and I don't know if I like that."

Wait, wait, wait. British boys don’t wear flip flops? Who knew? But it’s refreshing to hear that our boys are not afraid to stake a claim, despite being a little backward in world fashion.
