Confirmed: Lindsay Lohan Will Play Elizabeth Taylor On Lifetime

Lindsay Lohan Elizabeth Taylor LifetimeShe's not yet once more big-screen bound. But as she did when she hosted "Saturday Night Live" last month, Lindsay Lohan is looking at headling on television as a step back in the right direction.

The previously troubled actress has been confirmed by Lifetime today to be locked in to soon play late Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming "Liz & Dick", The Huffington Post has reported. Executive programming vice president Rob Sharenow gushed via statement released today, "[Lohan] is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon."

The Taylor Lohan will portray will be the one who entered a love affair of Hollywood legend with the late Richard Burton, whom she met while the two filmed 1963's classic film "Cleopatra". After the two left their respective spouses so they could marry, the pair were actually married and divorced twice each to (and from) one another before finally calling it quits with finality.

At 25, Lohan has become more known for appearing in mugshots on TMZ than profitable nuggest of box-office gold such as "Herbie: Fully Loaded" or "Mean Girls". It was late last month that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner freed Lohan from supervised probation that followed previous DUI and theft-related legal entanglements.

Since then, Lohan has not only hosted a March "Saturday Night Live" episode she begged creator Lorne Michaels to headline, but been confirmed to portray herself as a judge critiquing McKinley High's New Directions class at Nationals on the "Glee" season finale.

"I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor," Lohan added in her own statement. "She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role."
