Chaz Bono Gets Engaged On New OWN Special: Watch the Proposal

Chaz Bono Gets Engaged On New OWN Special: Watch the Proposal OK, so the "courageous" Chaz Bono ended his "Dancing with the Stars" run by becoming a giant whiny-butt. One would assume that wedded bliss equals "I more than broke even."

The author, activist, son of Cher and the late Sonny Bono and lackluster hoofer shares a precious moment with the world on the upcoming OWN special "Being Chaz" by popping the question to girlfriend Jennifer Elia to a happy-ending "yes."

Throughout Bono's run up to the midpoint of the 13th season of "Dancing With The Stars" - which Bono competed on despite vocal, public objections by conservative groups to the transgender Bono being featured on the prime-time ABC competition show - Elia was a frequent face in the crowd cheering him on . The 42-year-old Bono proposed during an intimate moment on the special in Seattle.

"It's gorgeous. Thanks you so much," she gushes at receiving Bono's proposal. "It's stunning. It's huge."

Go ahead. Just set down the "That's what she said?" joke over there to the left. Thanks.

"People feel so angry that Chaz is entering their television," a weepy Elia said. "People who make change get shot, and I don't think that's worth it. ... This is insane. It's not worth doing a show if you're going to get shot . . . I don't want him to die for a cause."

"Being Chaz" debuts tomorrow night on OWN at 8 PM ET/PT, followed by "I Am Jazz: A Family In Transition" at 9PM ET/PT, which tells the true story of 11-year-old transgendered girl Jazz and the adjustments her family must make as she comes of age.
