'Breaking In' is Back! Fox Cancels Cancellation on Christian Slater's Show
by Andy Neuenschwander
Fox must really like the new comedy project from Adam F. Goldberg. They like it so much, in fact, that they're willing to bring a show back from the dead in order to get it.
The comedy show from Goldberg was being shopped around to a number of networks, and Fox wanted in. But there was a problem: Fox had just cancelled Goldberg's other show, the hacker/spy comedy "Breaking In." It's kind of difficult to woo someone whose show you axed, so Fox had to do a little extra romancing.
That lead to a deal in which Fox will buy Goldberg's new project and renew the previously cancelled "Breaking In" for a 13-episode order. It's a pretty good deal all around: fans of the show win, Goldberg wins, and Fox wins by getting this new comedy.
All Fox has to deal with in return are the lackluster ratings of "Breaking In"...but maybe some extra advertising or a nicer time slot will help it out.
Speaking of which, there's still the problem of where and when to put the show. Fox has a problem that most networks would love to have: they have too many shows and not enough time slots to air them. With a big slate of new shows coming up this fall and midseason for the network, it remains to be seen where "Breaking In" will...well, break in.
