Blake Lively and Selena Gomez in 'Sex and the City' Prequel?

Blake Lively as "Sex and the City" seductress Samantha? Selena Gomez as good girl Charlotte? If rumors regarding a possible prequel movie to "Sex and the City" are true, it just might happen.
UK tabloid The Daily Mirror is reporting that a thrid "Sex and the City" movie is underway with the blessing of author Candace Bushnell, and casting has begun, with Blake Lively, Selena Gomez, Julia Roberts' niece Emma Roberts and Mary-Kate and Ashley sister Elizabeth Olsen in the lead role of Carrie Bradshaw.
Earlier this year, Sarah Jessica Parker told the L.A. Times she thought a prequel would be a bad idea:
"I don't think we can pretend to go back... It's creating two histories. It's like, 'Oh I didn't know that about Carrie Bradshaw.'"
Kristin Davis (aka Charlotte) expressed similar disgust at the idea to E!:
"'We've discussed our history in the show already so for all of our fervent fans who listen to what we say, why would we rewrite that? And then have like different people with our names? It's kind of freaky.'"
Neither Parker nor Davis owns the rights to the "Sex and the City" story, however, and there's no question a movie starring the white-hot Lively and Gomez would end up getting butts in seats. The question is, would they like what they saw when they got there?
Of course, it's way to early to tell how much of this story is true, but let's be honest, "Sex and the City" isn't exactly "Citizen Kane." I mean, how much damage could they really do?
Would you go see a "Sex and the City" prequel? What if it starred Blake Lively and Selena Gomez?
