Episode 'American Idol' Season 10, Episode 7 - 'Idol' Finds Golden Voices in San Francisco Recap
by Marivic Cabural“American Idol” made its final round of auditions in San Francisco on Wednesday before heading back to Hollywood, and it looks like the panel of judges found golden voices in the city.
James Durbin is among the lucky hopefuls who received Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson’s approval. He performed "You Shook Me," by Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith's "Dream On" with Tyler, who wrote and sang the song, sitting before him.
After singing Tyler said, "Wow! That was so, so good.”
Randy Jackson commented, "My God, what a range, and that's full voice, not falsetto. That's crazy!"
Durbin told the judges when he sings “it all goes away” and he said, “I don’t have a care in the world.”
Emily Anne Reed is also one of the lucky hopefuls who received her ticket to Hollywood. She performed, “You’re Getting to Be a Habit With Me.” Steven Tyler said her voice was nice, but that he wasn’t impressed with the melody, so he said not yet. Randy Jackson said yes to her and Jennifer Lopez gave her the chance to prove herself in Hollywood.
Stefano Langone who sang, "Heard It Through the Grapevine” received a big "Yes" from the three judges and Jennifer Lopez even commented, "I think you have real star quality."
Clint Jun Gamboa is another contestant who impressed the judges. He sang “Billionaire,” and after his song Randy Jackson asked him where he learned to sing like that. Clint said he grew up singing in gospel churches. Randy advised him not to lose it, and he commented, “One of the best I’ve seen in San Francisco.”
A more challenging “American Idol” will be seen tomorrow, as the show kicks off its Hollywood week.
