DreamWorks Announces Animation Lineup, Including Lots of Sequels

If you saw last year's Oscar-nominated "How to Train Your Dragon," chances are you're already wanting more. Well, you're in luck: DreamWorks has announced their animated feature film lineup through 2014, and there are a lot of sequels in store.

The big three with recognizable names and franchise potential are "Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom" (due out in May) and as-of-yet-untitled "Madagascar" and "How to Train Your Dragon" sequels.

Before you get too excited about that last one, remember that this list is for projects through 2014...and the "How to Train Your Dragon" sequel is currently scheduled for June of that year.

Also a sequel of sorts is the "Shrek" spin-off "Puss in Boots," which is slated for release on November 4th of this year.

In the original content realm, DreamWorks has a few intriguing-sounding projects with some tantalizing details: "The Croods," "Turbo," and "Me and My Shadow" are all due out in 2013, and short synopses are available: "Turbo" will tell the story of the world's fastest snail, and "Me and My Shadow" will combine traditional and computer animation, which should be pretty cool. Fans of "Rocky & Bullwinkle" will really rejoice at the news that DreamWorks is planning a feature-length adaptation of the cartoon short "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," featuring a boy and a very smart time-traveling dog. Robert Downey Jr. has already been tapped to provide a voice.
