Harry Potter Poised to Absolutely Crush the Box Office; Film Will Have the Largest Release in the Franchise's History

What's the highest grossing movie franchise of all time? Star Wars? Seems like it should be. James Bond? What about Shrek? Nope. The highest grossing movie franchise of all time title belongs to Harry Potter. The films have brought in a whopping $6.4 billion at the box office.

With such massive success already, the final film in the franchise is certain to do well, but Warner Brothers has apparently taken steps to make sure it's a veritable neutron bomb at the box office. James Cameron take note. Michael Bay be warned. You very well may be about to get served.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2" will be getting the biggest release of any Potter film ever. The film reportedly will screen in over 4,375 theaters and over 11,000 screens in North America on Friday.

It has already set a record for the sheer volume of 3D screens to play a single movie, with 3,000 locations and 4,250 screens. Add in the record-shattering 274 IMAX venues and 3,800 midnight screening, and there's basically no way this film could not crush the box office.

Unless it sucks. And early reviews say no way. The film is currently at 95% on the Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, and reviews have been nothing short of gushing in their praise. Plus, something tells me anyone who bought one of the over 400 million and counting Harry Potter books over the years, whether in English or Sinhalese, will want to see this flick.
